Got a long, sunny strip?
The Max is our biggest kit: two 630W panels on a strip about 5.0m long and 1.2m deep. Think of the sunny side of a bigger plot in Sutton Coldfield or Solihull, or the open lawn at the far end of a long semi garden.
We sell this kit for the ground. The stand can go on a wall, a flat roof or a raised spot too, but only after a professional assessment, which the maker requires and we don't offer. These kits aren't for balconies.
Around £180 a year for a busy home*
Two 630W panels add up to 1260W. The microinverter caps what goes into your home at 799VA (3.5A), and the extra panel power keeps it nearer that limit for more of the day.
*Our estimate for a busy four-person home with someone in all day, using 70% of the power as it's made, south-facing and unshaded, at the price cap rate of 26.32p per kWh. That works out at around £1,760 over 10 years and £3,430 over 20. Try your own figures.
Big kits and the 960W professional check
The government's product specification says that above 960W of panels, users should consider a professional assessment of their electrical installation. So before you plug this kit in, have a qualified electrician check your electrics.
We don't do that check ourselves. Any qualified electrician can, and it's a good moment to have them look at your outdoor socket and RCD protection too.
What's in the box?
- 2 × 630W TOPCon N-type panels (bifacial, glass-glass)
- 1 × APsystems EZ1-M 800W microinverter
- Hybrid aluminium mounting frame with ballast brackets, for a wall or the ground
- 4m AC cable
Ballast isn't in the box. With the hybrid stand on the ground, the ballast has to suit your spot and the wind there, and the maker's ground-mount block table doesn't apply to it. Get in touch and we'll ask the maker for the figure for your kit before you set it up. Don't use it ballasted until that's confirmed.
Before you order: tick these off
Run down these before you join the list. Can't tick one yet? A local electrician can sort the socket and the fuse box check, then you're good to go.
- A level, sunny patch of about 5.0m × 1.2m on your lawn, patio or gravel.
- A weatherproof outdoor socket within the kit's 4m lead. It plugs straight in: no extension leads, cable reels or adaptors.
- Your fuse box needs modern RCD protection. Not sure? An electrician can check it, and fit an outdoor socket if you need one.
- More than 960W of panels, so have a professional check your electrics before you plug in.
- Renting, or leasehold? Get written permission from your landlord or freeholder before you buy.
- A quick call to your home insurer before you set it up.
- Register it free at myplugin.solar before you switch on. That lets National Grid Electricity Distribution, who run the network in Birmingham, know it's there.
- One kit per household, and never used with a home battery.
Delivery and changing your mind
Delivered to your front door anywhere in England, Scotland or Wales. The box is 2410 × 1165 × 240mm and weighs 96kg, so it's a job for two. Measure your side passage before it arrives. See our delivery page.
Changed your mind? Cancel any time before dispatch for a full refund, or within 14 days of delivery. After delivery you pay to send it back unless it's faulty, so hang on to the box until you're sure.

Questions before you buy
Plus or Max: which one?
The Plus suits a deep, squarish patch (about 2.5m × 2.2m). The Max suits a long strip (about 5.0m × 1.2m). Our Big Garden Kit page puts them side by side.
Can it go on the shed roof?
We don't sell it for sheds or roofs. Raised installs need a professional assessment first, and a shed is rarely within 4m of a suitable socket. On the lawn it's simpler.
Who does the professional check?
A qualified electrician can check your electrical installation. We don't offer this ourselves.
Who do I tell about it?
Register the kit free at myplugin.solar before you first switch on. That tells National Grid Electricity Distribution, the network operator for Birmingham and the West Midlands. Let your home insurer know too.
