The Big Garden Kit

Big kits and the 960W professional check
Both sizes have more than 960W of panels. The government's product specification says that above 960W, users should consider a professional assessment of their electrical installation, so have a qualified electrician check your electrics before you plug in.
We don't do that check ourselves. While the electrician's round, it's a good moment to have them look at the outdoor socket and your RCD protection too.
What's in the box?
- 2 TOPCon N-type panels (bifacial, glass-glass): 2 × 515W in the Plus, 2 × 630W in the Max
- 1 APsystems EZ1-M 800W microinverter
- Hybrid aluminium mounting frame with ballast brackets
- 4m AC cable with a factory-fitted, fused UK plug
Ballast isn't in the box. With the hybrid stand on the ground, the ballast has to suit your spot and the wind there, and the maker's ground-mount block table doesn't apply to it. Get in touch and we'll ask the maker for the figure for your kit before you set it up.
Why the lawn, not the shed?
The Big Garden Kit takes the place of a shed-roof kit. Raised installs need a professional assessment first, and a shed is rarely within 4m of a suitable socket. On the lawn it's simpler, and you can reach it for a wipe.

Questions about the big kits
Can I put it on a wall or flat roof instead?
We sell it for the ground. The hybrid stand can go on a wall, flat roof or raised spot only after a professional assessment, which the maker requires and we don't offer. These kits aren't for balconies.
Is the Max worth it over the Garden Ground Mount Kit?
Every kit is capped at 799VA into your home. The Max's extra panel power keeps it closer to that limit for more of the day, so it makes more over a year. It also needs more room and has the over-960W check.
Who do I tell about it?
Register the kit free at myplugin.solar before you first switch on. That tells National Grid Electricity Distribution, the network operator for Birmingham and the West Midlands. Let your home insurer know too.
